Slow Cooker Cinnamon Cardamom French Toast
Ingredients:
- One loaf of cinnamon swirl bread, cubed
- 2 cups of milk, (regular or almond works)
- 6 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons orange zest
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, cubed (Vegan butter also works here)
- Maple syrup, for serving
Directions:
1. Prepare the french toast mixture the night before. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Toast cubes of cinnamon swirl bread.
2. In a large bowl with a lid mix together milk, eggs, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange zest, brown sugar and butter.
3. Once bread has toasted and cooled, add to your egg mixture and fully coat. Cover with lid and let mixture soak overnight.
4. The morning you are going to serve, spray slow cooker with non stick cooking spray. Add bread mixture to slow cooker and cover with lid. Let french toast cook on low for 4 hours. You can do it on high for 2 hours, however, I prefer the slower process (it makes your house smell amazing!). Serve with maple syrup.
